Houston power trio Bärdo hustles up an all original repertoire of high energy music variously described as “Anger Pop” and “Punk Rush.” Complex snaking arrangements, accomplished technique and eclectic song writing create fresh, engaging dynamics which engender a ’70’s Punk and Rock flavor, plus. An ever-evolving fusion, a group that does not fall in love with its own riffs- lyrically acerbic and often seedy, the band gorges itself on tongue-in-cheek social critique.
Signing a secret treaty in early 2024 at an undisclosed Northline industrial location, the outfit’s staff blends the academically-trained talent and prolific creativity of bassist Stewj with the long seasoned, self-taught tradition of singer/guitarist Frank Whitley, and the artisanal drumming of Grid “El Camino” Torino. A native Texan, Stewj has single- handedly written and self-recorded nine full length albums. While Whitley has been banging his head against the wall since the ‘80s Punk scene of the Northeast U.S., cutting his teeth at clubs such as Brick and Wood, The Anthrax, and ABC No Rio. Torino’s drumming comeuppance evolved through the ’90's at 924 Gilman Street, Berkley, CA. Entailing three complete sets of original music right out of the gate, and hailing from as many coastal regions of the United States, they write songs individually and collaboratively. Bärdo is currently gigging the Gulf Coast, and had its first release, “The Trilogy” in September, ’23, with another five song ep, “Coup Fourré,” planned for January of ’25.
